Who Are We?

Young Careerists are ages 18 to 35. We represent and are sponsored by hometown local organizations or via the virtual affiliate (where no club/chapter is located). We enjoy the local, national, and international affiliation with Colorado Business Women, EPW-USA, BPW Foundation and BPW International organizations. We network with members and learn from their seasoned wisdom. In exchange, we help them to stay in-tune and in-touch with our generation.

What are Young Careerists doing?

Throughout the USA and internationally, Young Careerist Teams unite a great power and offer an additional programs on local, national and international levels. There are theme-focused workshops and training seminars on programs such as:

  • Negotiation Skills,
  • Meetings with Senior Managers as Role Models,
  • Forums on national and international issues,
  • Symposiums, and
  • Local Young BPW get-togethers.
The important goal is to encourage the exchange of ideas and information.

On the personal level, we share our professional experiences and expertise with one another, make business and private contacts, and advise one another on questions of career and personal development. We as Young Enterprising and Professional Women support each other to have equal access in career and business development, as well as personal development.

The Reason for having Young Careerists

It is simple: Young Careerists are the younger members with a focus on the planning and management of a career and creating work-life balance as we begin our families. We often prefer a less formal meeting style. The integration within a local club/chapter is essential to the mentorship we gain as we develop leadership, networking, and advocacy skills.

We want to raise awareness of the historically high level of women's qualifications, and the work that they have achieved. We want to obtain equal opportunities for the advancement of women in the economy, politics, and other organizations.

Furthermore, we want to make personal and professional development possible for all.

Young Careerists also work on a political level: Through the organization, we influence political decisions via various UN committees (e.g. CSW, UNESCO, UNIFEM, WHO) as well as through the European Women´s Lobby (EWL).

Young Careerist activities

Young Careerists from all over the world visit the annual Commission on the Status of Women CSW in New York, and lobby for women’s rights.

Every three years we organize a Young Careerist Conference - a great networking and learning opportunity for our members from across the globe! Not only do young women get to learn from sharing of mutual experiences, but also form lifelong friendships.

Save the Dates!

Thanks to CBW leadership and our hosts, Dave and Deb Fischer, for a very enjoyable evening at the CBW kickoff meeting and BBQ.  It was great to meet up with friends from Sterling to DTC.  Six of our seven local organizations were represented.

Our conference dates were established, so please save the dates.  Saturday FEBRUARY 8, 2014 will be our midyear board of directors and Young Careerist program.  Friday and Saturday, JUNE 6 and 7, 2014 will be our annual convention and state Celebration of Women dates.  Locations and details to follow.

CBW leaders:  Please be on the lookout for a Survey Monkey to coordinate the date and location for our upcoming Leadership Conference.

As well, plans are in the making to coordinate relief efforts for our CBW members who were damaged by the floods.  If you sustained major damage, please contact your Local Organization president immediately. Stay tuned for more information on this website.

Sunday, September 22, 2013 for the annual CBW leadership barbeque, 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm at Past President Deb's home in Arvada.  (No worries, no Broncos game that day.)

This is also a great opportunity for those who are considering leadership positions and want more information before making a final commitment.

AND, spouses are invited, so bring your hubbie, kids and SO's so they know who you're talking about the rest of the year!

Stay tuned for more information.  Invitations will be sent to the 2013-14 local organization presidents for RSVP, or contact president@coloradobusinesswomen.org with any questions.

Have a great summer!
